CIVIS meeting in Aix-en-Provence

SAFESORRY is a research project funded by the European Research Council that seeks to understand parenting in a changing social world.

With a diverse team of researchers, we aim to better comprehend how the societal, cultural, economic and historical context shapes the way parents educate their children. The SAFE-SORRY team was on the move again! The team recently travelled to Aix-Marseille University in the beautiful region of Provence in France for a two-day research seminar on parenting, adolescence, and emerging adulthood. They met with researchers and students from partner universities within the CIVIS network, in which ULB is a partner and which also includes countries represented in the SAFE-SORRY project: Greece (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens) and France (Aix-Marseille University). During the two-day visit, the attendees had the chance to inform each other about their respective current projects, discuss common themes in methodological and theoretical perspectives such as risk-taking, parental burnout, and intensive parenting, teach two classes on parental violence and on overprotective parenting, and reflect on future collaborations within the CIVIS universities.
