A new SAFE-SORRY paper has been published! Annalisa Soncini, in collaboration with Emilio Paolo Visintin (University of Ferrara) and Maria Cristina Matteucci (University of Bologna), conducted a qualitative study on teachers’ perceptions of the parent-teacher relationship in current times with a focus on potential perceived consequences on teachers’ well-being. Twenty-three Italian teachers teaching in primary, middle, and secondary school were interviewed.
Results showed that although teachers often establish cooperative relationships with parents based on trust and mutual respect, such cooperation is not always achieved. In these cases, the relationship is perceived as challenging, and teachers acknowledge that managing challenging relationships may have implications for their well-being and behaviours. Additionally, teachers identified broader societal factors that contribute to the transformation of the parent-teacher relationship in current times.
