After the ISPA conference, Annalisa Soncini will present the results of her qualitative study on Italian teachers’ perceptions of their relationships with parents at the European Association for Research in Learning and Instruction (EARLI) in Graz, Austria.
Then, together with Eliana De Salvo, Annalisa will chair a symposium entitled “Overprotective parenting: socio-economic determinants and effects on adolescents, young adults and teachers” at the Conference of the Italian Association of Psychology (AIP) in Udine, Italy. Bringing together studies from across Italy and a range of perspectives, this symposium aims to discuss the socio-economic determinants of overprotective parenting and shed light on its effects on adolescents, young adults, and teachers. The four contributions will provide an overview of the most recent evidence on the topic, promoting an interesting discussion that will be led by Professor Sebastiano Costa (University of Campania). The titles of the four contributions are listed below:
-“Responsiveness and overprotection in Italy: Associations with socio-economic pressures”, De Salvo et al. (University of Messina)
-“The influence of parental bonding on university students’ anxiety”, Esposito et al. (University of Trento)
-“Helicopter parenting and problematic use of social networks in adolescence: the role of emotional invalidating and psychological distress”, Ghinassi et al. (University of Pisa)
-“Overly involved parents at school: A risk factor for the well-being of teachers and pupils? A qualitative study on teachers’ perceptions”, Soncini et al. (ULB)
