We are happy to share a new paper published by Louise Mathijs and her team as part of her PhD research! This qualitative study explores the real-world impact of group-based parenting programs. While we know from quantitative data that these programs work, this research dives deeper into the how and why, by interviewing 16 mothers who completed the “ACT Raising Safe Kids” program.
The findings reveal that mothers experienced meaningful shifts in their beliefs and behaviors leading to more balanced family dynamics, developed practical strategies to manage daily challenges while navigating modern parental pressures, and gained vital social support within the group. This study highlights the important role group programs may play in supporting mothers through a current sociocultural landscape often marked by intense expectations and isolation.
