Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting our Salon de la Parentalité, an event that brought together a diverse group of participants: parents, researchers, clinicians and school professionals. It was an opportunity to share the main findings of our SAFE-SORRY project and to encourage constructive discussions about parenting.
First, Stijn Van Petegem presented an overview of the SAFE-SORRY research, with the aim of deconstructing preconceived ideas and demonstrating that it is essential to consider the socio-cultural and economic context in order to understand contemporary parenting. Download the presentation here.
At our Foire de la Parentalité, you could then discover various sub-projects and share your thoughts with us. Gaëlle Venard addressed the issue of diverse pressures among parents (poster here); Annalisa Soncini discussed the topic of parental involvement in the school context (poster); with Elliana Lamprianidou, you could exchange views on gender in the context of parenting (poster); Louise Mathijs, Marit Van Belle, and Erica Dos Santos Ribeiro presented our parenting support program (poster); and Justine De Decker replaced Cindy Eira Nunes to present the methodological aspects of the SAFE-SORRY project (poster).
Then, during a round table discussion, we met with several experts to discuss the implications of the results presented for families, education professionals, and public policy.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event an unforgettable experience!
