Yesterday, Louise Mathijs brilliantly defended her PhD thesis entitled “It takes a group to raise a child? Understanding how group-based parenting programs support parents”!

In her dissertation, Louise examined differences in effects between group-based and individual parenting programs, she explored the mechanisms of change that may have operated throughout a group-based parenting program, and she aimed to situate parents’ experiences with group-based parenting support in a broader, sociocultural context. This was done by combining meta-analytic approaches with qualitative, in-depth explorations of the parents’ experiences who participated in the ACT-based parenting groups that Louise organized throughout her PhD.

Congratulations to Dr. Mathijs, and we wish you an excellent trip throughout Southeast Asia!
