A new SAFE-SORRY scientific article has just been published! This study, which represents the final chapter of Louise Mathijs‘ PhD thesis, was carried out in collaboration with Cindy Eira Nunes and Stijn Van Petegem.
The study explored the change mechanisms observed in a father who participated in the ACT-Raising Safe Kids Program. The findings show significant improvements in mental health and emotion regulation. Throughout the program, the participant gradually moved from a state of considerable distress to a better understanding of his emotions and behaviors.
The study also highlights the importance of the broader societal context in parents’ experiences. The findings suggest that parents may need more support than ever, while social changes can make such support harder to access.
